West Shamokin knocks off River Valley, 51-44, for big win in Heritage West
Don’t let West Shamokin’s overall record fool you.
The Wolves are 2-3, with two losses to larger WPIAL programs.
The record that counts is 2-1. That’s where West Shamokin stands in the Heritage Conference after knocking off River Valley, the defending champion, 51-44, in a West Division matchup Wednesday night.
The Wolves, under second-year coach Eric Spencer, split their first two conference games, edging United and losing to Cambria Heights. Marion Center and Penns Manor lead the West at 3-0. River Valley fell to 2-2 in the West.
West Shamokin held the lead through three quarters but had to rally in the final minutes to secure the win.

The Panthers held that edge until sophomore Aubrey Reafer buried a 3-pointer with 1:54 left to push West Shamokin back into the lead.
