River Valley's Maddie Twinchek wins District 6 championship in javelin

ALTOONA — Bored one Saturday morning earlier this spring, Maddie Twinchek picked up a javelin and started tossing it around her backyard.

“I have a javelin at my house and one Saturday morning I was just bored and didn’t have anything to do so I decided to go out in the yard and throw it around,” the River Valley sophomore said. “Coach found out and the next meet he put me in javelin and I threw 80-something feet, and he put me in again and I threw 95, and after that I got to 100 and kept going up from there.”
